Pharmacokinetic Parameters of Amikacin in Korean Patients with Normal Renal Function

|
Half-life and volume of distribution of amikacin in 13 korean patients with normal renal function were determined. Amikacin was administered by intermittent Ⅳ infusion. Blood samples were obtained at the time of 5 minutes before next dose and 30 minutes after infusion completion when it was thought that steady state was reached. Plasma concentraion of amikacin was measured using fluorescent polarization immunoassay. The mean half-life was 1.69±0.79 hours and the mean volume of distribution was 0.43±0.15L/㎏ of ABW. Compared with other studies, there was significantly larger. In addition, we compared correlation between actually measured half-life and predicted half-life from calculated creatinine clearance. We could not find a meaningful correlation between the two half-lifes.
